Like Julia Childs, we love butter.

At the movies this past weekend, we saw Julia and Julie. Reminded me of how inadequate I am as a chef (though I can poach an egg!), and how much I would love to live in Paris as a rich wife.

This is my ceiling fan, upon which I rely heavily during the summer. :)

more of the Love sculpture

LOVE sculpture on 6th Avenue -- I'm not sure if this is a store advertisement or just street art, but it makes a cool frame.

Walking in an August haze along 62nd or 61st street, on the Upper West Side between Columbus and Broadway.

Today is all about Roxy Paine's Maelstrom on the Met roof. This is the largest installation on the roof in the history of the Met. It's basically a stainless steel tree-like structure. Something to do with the contrast of urban life and nature. I think it looks beautiful in photographs -- especially those published with the New York Times review -- but I thought the idea was sort of unoriginal. In person, I was so overwhelmed by the August heat and haze with my friend Becky that I had a hard time focussing on the actual sculpture.

OKAY. I'm really failing to come up with new material now. Here's another photo from last summer. This effect of the glowing buildings is what happens when you take this kind of one-color only photo in a digital camera...

just a couple of Buddhist sculptural heads from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

I haven't been able to take any new photos this week so far, and so I'm a little behind with the posting. Sorry! I'll try to grab some good shots on my way home...perhaps I'll pick a different color to follow all the way to Brooklyn. Here's one from last summer's "walk home in blue." This was just south of Houston Street on Lafayette.
